Yamunotri Dham is situated at an elevation of 3,291 metres (10,797 ft) above sea level in Uttarkashi District of Uttarakhand. The Yamuna River originates from here which is known to be the second most sacred river of India. Every year many in a number of travellers come here to visit this pious place and get the blessings of Maa Yamuna. To get the darshan of Maa Yamuna you will have to trek for 6 kilometers from Hanuman Chatti.

It is believed that the temple was built by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur in 19th century.
