Uttarakhand | The Land of Gods

Uttarakhand is a northern state of India. It was carved out of northern Uttar Pradesh and name was given Uttaranchal, later on in January 2007 the name was changed to Uttarakhand from Uttaranchal. It is also known as ‘Dev Boomi’, the lands of Gods due to many in numbers of pilgrimages situated here such as: Badrinath Dham, Kedarnath Dham, Gangotri Dham, Yamunotri dham, Hemkund Sahib, Tungnath Temple, etc. The state is located at the foothills of Himalayas, so the most of the area is hilly and shares international boundaries.


Uttarakhand is famous for its religious view and natural resources and the most famous religious journey of Uttarakhand is Chardham Yatra. This is the place where Ganges River originates and the Valley of flowers UNESCO World Heritage site is situated. Tehri Dam which is known to be the highest Dam in Asia and 8th in the world also belongs to Uttarakhand.
